Calm, baby-led newborn photography experience for Edmonton mothers

who want a supportive, unrushed experience.

EDMONTON
NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHER

My approach to newborn and baby photography is intentionally calm, simple, and fully guided. You don’t need to know how to pose, what to wear, or how your baby should behave. I’ll take care of the details so you can stay present with your little one.

I welcome a limited number of newborn and baby photography clients each month from Edmonton, Beaumont, Sherwood Park, Leduc, St. Albert, Devon, and surrounding Alberta communities who are looking for a calm, thoughtfully guided experience and timeless, natural photographs of their growing family.

From their soft fuzzy skin to their flakey little toes...

I want you to remember every last bit of them as they are at this stage

A Guided Newborn & Baby Photography Experience

My sessions are designed to feel calm, unhurried, and thoughtfully guided from beginning to end. Whether we photograph your baby in the comfort of your home or in my Beaumont studio just outside of Edmonton, every detail is approached with care - allowing you to settle in, breathe, and simply be present with your baby.

Rather than relying on overly posed setups or rushed workflows, I follow your baby’s pace while gently guiding you throughout the session. There is always space for feeding, soothing, cuddling, and the quiet in-between moments that often become the most meaningful images.

Many of the mothers I work with tell me they feel nervous in front of the camera or worry they won’t know what to do. You do not need to arrive knowing how to pose, what to wear, or how your baby “should” behave. My role is to create a relaxed experience where you feel cared for, comfortable, and fully supported - while your baby is handled with patience, gentleness, and the same level of care I would want for my own children.

This experience is especially suited for families who value natural, refined imagery and a more thoughtful approach - one centered around connection, comfort, and quality over excess.

Why Families Choose Newborn Photography During the First 2 Weeks

The first days with your baby pass in a blur of tiny details that seem impossible to imagine forgetting - the way they naturally curl into your chest, their flaky little fingers, soft wisps of hair, and sleepy stretches after a feed. These are the details that change so quickly, which is why most newborn photography sessions take place within the first 5-14 days after birth.

During this stage, babies are often sleepier and more comfortable being gently wrapped or curled into the natural positions they were used to before they were born. Of course, every baby is different, and if your little one is older than two weeks, please don't worry. Beautiful, meaningful photographs can be created at every stage, and I always follow your baby's comfort and cues throughout the session.

My Beaumont studio welcomes families from Edmonton, Sherwood Park, Leduc, St. Albert, Devon and surrounding communities who are looking for a calm, baby-led newborn photography experience, or I am also happy to travel to you.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING
YOUR NEWBORN SESSION

From the moment you inquire, you’ll be supported through a thoughtful, steady process designed to take the pressure off.

Before your session, I’ll help you choose the right timing for your newborn or baby, offer guidance around what to wear, and talk through whether a studio or in-home session feels like the best fit for your family.

During the session itself, I’ll offer  direction while moving at a pace led by your baby - allowing time for feeding, soothing, and settling without any sense of urgency. I always leave extra time so parents can relax instead of worrying about the clock.

Some babies sleep for most of their session, while others are happily awake, stretching, yawning, and looking around. Both create beautiful photographs. My role is simply to work with your baby's personality rather than expecting them to fit into a rigid schedule.

Afterward, you’ll receive a proofing gallery to select the images you love the most, followed by careful retouching and the option to invest in both digital files and tangible artwork for your home.

My goal is for you to leave feeling cared for and confident - never rushed or unsure.

Studio or In-home Baby Photography

Both studio and in-home sessions offer something special, and I’ll help you choose what feels right for your family.

Studio sessions are ideal if you love

Soft, neutral backdrops

Beautiful, consistent light

A quiet, minimal environment

In-home sessions are perfect if you value

A relaxed, familiar setting

Lifestyle-inspired imagery

Documenting your baby’s earliest days at home

No matter the location, the focus is always on connection rather than perfection.

Whether you choose a studio or in-home newborn session, my approach stays the same.

Every session is gently guided while leaving room for authentic moments to unfold naturally.

Families who love bright, minimal portraits often choose my Beaumont studio, where everything is prepared before you arrive, from wraps and blankets to a carefully curated client wardrobe. Parents who prefer documenting this chapter exactly as it happened often choose an in-home session, allowing us to include the nursery, favourite chair, family pets, and all the little details that make your house feel like home.

There isn't a right or wrong choice. If you're unsure, I'll help you decide which experience feels like the best fit for your family.

While many families book newborn sessions within the first two weeks, I also photograph babies beyond the newborn stage.

These sessions are ideal for older newborns, 3–6 month milestones, and babies whose personalities are beginning to shine

You don’t need to fit into a specific timeline for your baby

to be beautifully documented - Every stage of baby's first year deserves to be remembered.

Whether your baby is a sleepy newborn, discovering their toes at six months, or taking those exciting first steps around their first birthday, each season tells a different part of your family's story. These milestone sessions are intentionally simple and timeless, allowing your baby's personality to remain the focus.

Many families choose to return throughout their baby's first year, creating a collection of portraits that beautifully show just how quickly they grow and change.

A Few Things You Might
Be Wondering

Here are a few of the questions I hear most often

from Edmonton parents.

When should I book my newborn session? Most families reserve their newborn session during the second trimester to ensure availability around their due date. Rather than booking a specific session date, I reserve space around your baby's expected arrival and schedule the session once they're here. Newborn sessions are typically photographed within the first two weeks, when babies are often sleepiest and happiest to be gently curled into natural, comfortable positions. During this stage, they also tend to sleep more deeply between feeds, allowing for a relaxed, baby-led session. That said, beautiful newborn photographs can absolutely be created beyond those first two weeks. Whether your baby is 10 days old, one month old, or even a little older, I simply adapt the session around their stage and personality. Every baby is different, and my goal is never to force a specific style of image, but to create timeless photographs that feel authentic to your family.

What should we wear? Soft neutrals and lighter tones tend to photograph beautifully and keep the focus where it belongs - on your connection with your baby. After booking, you'll receive styling guidance to help coordinate the whole family, and you're welcome to borrow from the client closet, which includes a selection of dresses for mothers and clothing for children up to size 4T. The goal isn't for everyone to match perfectly. It's to create a look that feels cohesive, comfortable, and natural while photographing beautifully together. I'll help guide you through the process so you don't have to worry about figuring it all out on your own.

What happens if my baby won't sleep? Please don't stress about bringing a perfectly sleepy baby. Newborn sessions are completely baby-led, with plenty of time built in for feeding, cuddling, and settling. While many babies do sleep for portions of their session, some prefer to stay awake and take everything in - and those images can be just as beautiful. My goal is never to force a baby into a pose or rush through the experience. Whether your newborn sleeps soundly, wants extra snuggles, or spends part of the session wide-eyed and curious, we'll create a beautiful gallery that reflects this season of your family's life.

Where is your studio located? My studio is located in Beaumont, Alberta, just outside Edmonton and an easy drive for families coming from Edmonton, Sherwood Park, Leduc, and surrounding communities. The space is designed specifically for newborn, baby, and family photography, with soft natural-looking light, newborn wraps and outfits, and a curated wardrobe for mothers. Everything is prepared before you arrive so you can walk in, settle in, and enjoy the experience.

Can parents, siblings and grandparents be included? Absolutely. Newborn sessions are about celebrating your growing family, not just documenting your baby. Parents and siblings are always encouraged to be part of the session, and grandparents are welcome to join if you'd like to include multiple generations in a few meaningful portraits. These photographs often become some of the most treasured images over time. I'll gently guide everyone throughout the session, so you never need to worry about knowing how to pose or getting young children to cooperate perfectly. The goal is to create natural, connected photographs that reflect your family's relationships exactly as they are.

LOVE NOTES

Within the last few months we had done a maternity and newborn/lifestyle session with Caitlin and she did such an amazing job with both. My husband and I are very awkward and not photogenic at all but Caitlin made the entire experience very comfortable and easy for us. She had come to our home for the newborn session as I had only been one week postpartum, Caitlin made it so effortless and really brought a sense of calmness to our home and was so gentle with our newborn. I absolutely love the style of photography that Caitlin does and I would recommend her to anyone.
